Scholarship Opportunities

The Independent Insurance Agents of Arkansas Education Foundation is proud to award advanced insurance education scholarships in honor of some of the insurance industry's staunchest supporters.

The Tad and Judy Krug Scholarship, and the Joseph D. “Del” Roberson Memorial Scholarship Endowment will be awarded based on individual character, career plans, and leadership potential. Preference will be given to family members and current employees of Arkansas Big I members. To qualify for the Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) and Certified Insurance Service Representative (CISR) scholarships, applicants must be actively involved in the insurance business. To qualify for the college scholarships, applicants must have completed two years of college requirements with plans to enter the field of property / casualty insurance.

Scholarship Categories:

1. The first scholarship category is for full tuition for first time attendees to the Certified Insurance Counselor programs. There will be five $435 scholarships offered for the CIC certification program. The scholarships must be used within twelve months of being awarded and the recipient may attend the seminar of their choosing.

APPLICANTS MUST:

  1. Fill out required application.
  2. Submissions will be accepted anytime during the fiscal year, from September 1 to August 31.
  3. Be an Arkansas resident and a member of the Independent Insurance Agents of Arkansas.
  4. Email completed application to Debbie Abels at debbie@bigiarkansas.com
  5. Applications will be considered by the IIA of Arkansas Education Committee Foundation and you will be contacted within two weeks of submission.


2. The second scholarship category is the Joseph D. “Del” Roberson Memorial Scholarship Endowment. This scholarship provides financial assistance to students enrolled in an accredited insurance and risk management program. Preference will be given to students pursuing a degree in Insurance & Risk Management at the University of Central Arkansas; however, students attending any accredited two-year or four-year Arkansas institution with curriculum content in insurance and risk management are eligible.


APPLICANTS MUST:

  1. Submit an application by August 1 of each year.
  2. Be an entering freshman, current student, transfer, or non-traditional student.
  3. Have a declared Insurance & Risk Management major (or be enrolled in a qualifying insurance and risk management curriculum).
  4. Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  5. Demonstrate involvement in university or community activities.
