The Outstanding CSR of the Year (OCSRY) competition recognizes customer service representatives and account managers who go above and beyond in serving clients and strengthening the insurance industry.
Sponsored by the Society of Certified Insurance Service Representatives (CISR) and Certified Insurance Counselors (CIC), this national program highlights the vital role CSRs play in agency success.

Who Can Enter?
The competition is open to individuals whose primary role focuses on customer service, including:
- Customer Service Representatives
- Account Managers
- Other client-facing insurance professionals
A CIC or CISR designation is not required. Candidates may also nominate themselves.
How It Works
To enter, participants must submit:
- Completed Entry Form
- Two letters of recommendation
- 500–1000 word essay
Essay Topic (Current Year):
Technology continues to reshape the insurance industry, bringing automation, AI, and data analytics into daily workflows. This year’s essay explores how CSRs can successfully integrate technology while maintaining meaningful client relationships.
If selected as a state winner, participants will advance to the national level, which includes a short video submission.
Nominations
Anyone can nominate a candidate—including self-nominations. Once nominated, participants will receive full entry details and submission instructions.
Awards & Recognition
- State and national recognition opportunities
- Cash awards for finalists and winners
- National exposure within the industry
Individuals who nominate the national winner may receive a $1,000 cash award.
